Hi everyone, Pat here. Thanks for logging on.
Welcome to the first blog of the 2017 Cleanup expedition. On this expedition our team is going to travel to the remote Southwest coast of Tasmania to clean up all the plastic litter that has trashed the wild beaches in this amazing part of Australia. We are also going to gather some important data about the types of plastic litter as well as information about the plants, animals and special places.
Today was a day of travel and preparations as our team all made their way to the four different fishing boats that will be our transport and base for the next 9 days. I had the furthest distance to travel to get here: All the way from Sydney to the Hobart docks where I hopped on board “Rumours” - a big fishing boat that is set up to catch abalone. There are 7 of us on the boat.
